About the Program

The Promise Scholarship is a merit-based financial aid program for West Virginia high school graduates planning to attend one of the state’s public or independent two- or four-year institutions.

Students who achieve certain academic requirements can receive up to $5,500, starting with the 2024-2025 academic year, in annual awards toward tuition and mandatory fees. Awards are contingent upon annual funding of the program by the West Virginia State Legislature.
